Unable to Install Portfolio Designer
Portfolio Designer will not allow you to proceed with the installation if the pre-requisites are not installed:

Operating system
Windows Operating System XP and Vista
CPU 1.6 Ghtz (Recommended)
RAM 256 MB
Disk space 100 MB
JRE 1.6 + Download Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
NET 2.0 Download Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0
Adobe Acrobat 7+ Download Adobe Acrobat

Why can't I download the data file? Why does it take so long to download the data file?

If it takes longer than a minute to download, chances are that a firewall on your computer, such as McAfee Personal Firewall, is preventing the data from downloading.

Workaround:
1) Temporarily deactivate the firewall. In Internet Explorer a yellow pop-up bar appears at the top of the screen that informs you that the download has been blocked. To continue downloading, right-click that bar, and select ‘Allow this download.’
2) Restart Portfolio Designer. Portfolio Designer will automatically try to download the data again.

Note:
If you experience difficulty in exiting or shutting down Portfolio Designer, Open Windows Task Manager ( Ctrl+Alt+Delete ) and end the following processes from the Process tab window: - - - SentryI.exe
- Java.exe

How often is the database updated?
The database is updated once a month on the second Monday after the last Friday of the previous month. For example, if 23 February is the last Friday in the month of February 2007 then the database will be updated on 5 March, 2007.

After downloading new data, new products are available, but where are their application forms?
Typically product application forms (PDF) documents are packaged with Portfolio Designer installer. When (occasionally) new data is release which contain new products, you may find your current version of Portfolio Designer does not contain the corresponding application form.

In such case, you can download a relevant patch installer and install it. which will make the product application form avaiable to you.

Alternatively, if your Portfolio Designer is quite out dated, download and install the latest version. It will have the new product application form embedded.

Should I backup models and client information before upgrading?
Model and Client information is backed up if you are uninstalling Portfolio Designer version 1.195e or later and upgrading to a higher version. When switching from the trial version to the licensed version, models created with the trial product will not be available for selection. However, client information created with the trial product will be available for selection after the switch.

Can we customize the questions appearing in the questionnaire?
For now, send us the questions that needs to be included in Portfolio Designer 1.95e and we will incorporate them in the questionnaire. Also, send us the range of scores used to map to the client risk profiles.

When viewing Application Forms in Adobe Acrobat, Asian text appears cut
Asian text does not work well with Adobe Acrobat 7.0.9 when used on Standard English operating system.

Workaround: Upgrade to Adobe Acrobat 8.0 or revert to Adobe Acrobat 7.0.

Cannot find certain funds in the packaged product
You could experience this problem because
- The fund was dropped from the product.
- The fund data was not provided by Standard and Poor.
- The fund is not included in the product list.

Workaround:
Contact us if you want a fund to be added to the product list.

Cannot find funds in Portfolio Bond
Current list of funds are created using Sentryi specific logic and filters.

Workaround:
Send us the names of funds to be added in Portfolio Bond.

My Portfolio Model appears as obsolete
This typically happens after a fund data sync. It is because either one or more funds contained in your model has been dropped from the packaged product, or the fund management group and data provider decided to change the fund's name, so the fund described in the model can not find a corresponding entry from the packaged product

How to disable firewall/security restriction for allowing sentryi portfolio designer
You could experience Norton internet secrity's restriction for allowing portfolio designer.

Workaround:

  1. Open Norton Internet Security,for example like Fig1.
  2. Go to "Program Control" section under the "Personal Firewall"
  3. Look for all java programs under Program Control
  4. Set "Internet Access" option with "Permit All" for all java programs, for example like Fig2.
