Frequently Asked Questions for MAC Users

1. Can I run Portfolio Designer on an Apple’s Mac?

Portfolio Designer requires Windows based platform to run. If you wish to run Portfolio Designer on a Mac, you may install Windows on Mac using BootCamp or virtualization software like Parallels Desktop.

2. What is the system requirement of running Portfolio Designer Apple’s Mac?

Generally, you will need
a) Intel-based Mac
b) 1GB or Ram (2GB recommended if you are running Windows Vista)

Please also refer to specific system requirements of any virtualization software you intend to use.

3. I cannot see some buttons at the bottom of the screen of Portfolio Designer

a) Make sure that your Windows screen resolution is at least 1024 x 768.
b) If you are running Windows with a virtualization software (e.g. Parallels Desktop), please make sure that you are running in full screen mode.
     a. Shut down portfolio designer
     b. Resize your screen into full screen mode

     c. Restart portfolio designer

4. When I click on the submit button in the Report Summary screen, no forms or reports are printed, why?

It is likely that .PDF files are not associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader. As a result, the forms and reports are generated but are not shown automatically. To solve this problem, please associate .pdf files with Adobe Acrobat Reader manually.

Method 1
Right click on any .pdf file
a) Go to Open With -> Choose Program…
b) Find Adobe Acrobat Reader Icon, select it.
c) Check the option “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”

Method 2
a) Go to My Computer (or open any folder)
b) Go to Tools -> Folder Options….
c) Click on the “File Types” tab
d) Scroll down to find the .pdf extension
e) At the bottom panel where it says “Opens with”, click on the Change button
f) Follow step 3 and 4 of Method 1

5. I am unable to download data upon License Activation or by clicking the “Synch Data” button. I received an error message “Data not found on server...update failed”

a) Chances are you are behind a firewall, see http://www.sentryi.com/portfolio-designer-faq.htm#2 or http://www.sentryi.com/portfolio-designer-faq.htm#11

b) If the problem persists and you are running Portfolio Designer version greater than 1450 but lesser than 1500. If so, please install this patch.
